- What is the difference between HDPE and UHMWPE?
- UHMWPE has a far higher molecular weight, which gives it much better abrasion resistance and impact strength than HDPE. HDPE is stiffer, easier to machine and lower cost, so it suits general fabrication while UHMWPE is used for sliding wear faces.
- Is HDPE suitable for food contact?
- Food-grade HDPE is widely used for cutting boards, benchtops and processing components. Ask us for the compliance documentation for your grade before you specify it.
- How much does HDPE expand and contract?
- HDPE moves noticeably with temperature, so fabricated panels and liners need slotted or oversized fixing holes to allow for thermal movement.
